From time to time you may need to block specific third parties from accessing your sites. There are a lot of automatic bots which crawl the Internet, for example, and generate fake visits and website traffic. There are also spammers who leave links to questionable websites as comments to site articles. Such things can greatly undermine your projects, simply because nobody likes to visit a website with many hundreds of fake comments, also the increased website traffic from both spammers and bots may generate high load on the server in which your Internet site is hosted, that could result in your site not functioning properly. Among the most effective solutions in such cases is to block the IP addresses which produce the fake traffic, in order to be sure that the visits to your site are real.

IP Blocking in Web Hosting

If you have a web hosting account with our company and you wish to block one or a number of IP addresses, you can use the IP Blocking tool, which is included in our in-house built Hepsia CP. Using a rather simple interface, you can stop any IP from accessing your content even if you have never had a web hosting account before. All it takes to do this is to log in to your Control Panel, to navigate to the IP Blocking section, to pick a specific domain or subdomain from a drop-down menu and then to enter the IP address. You shall not have to do anything challenging if you want to block a whole network - you will just need to omit the last octet, so entering 1.1.1. with a blank space after the last dot shall block the entire range from 1.1.1.1 to 1.1.1.255. All blocked IPs shall be listed in the same exact section, so you shall be able to remove any one of them from the blacklist with a click.

IP Blocking in Semi-dedicated Servers

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which comes with our semi-dedicated servers, will permit you to solve the matter with unwanted traffic very easily and quickly. It incorporates an IP blocking tool in which you can add IP addresses with several clicks. All domains and subdomains you have in the account will be listed in a drop-down menu, so you only need to pick the one you need and then input the IP address which has to be blocked. If you would like to block an entire range, a C-class network for instance, you just need to input the first three octets of the IP and leave the last one blank. That will block all 254 addresses, so you will not need to type in them manually. As all the IPs which you include in this section will be listed, you could quickly unblock any one of them by clicking the Delete button relevant to the given IP.
